A Chocolate Lovers Dream

St. Valentine‘s Day is less than a week away and so far I’ve only given you a main course, but don’t worry, the dessert recipe is coming up shortly.

This is another one from my early days of cooking and experimenting, the original recipe made for an incredibly “heavy” dessert and as a result I hadn’t made this for quite a while, however I have reworked it & tested it with quite a few friends recently and they all gave it a thumbs up including our Guest Photographer for this post and the recipe. Thanks for the amazing photos and the fantastic dinner Redmum :)

The recipe makes enough to serve 6-8 people, however for the Valentines meal you could make it up as individual portions in ramekins and freeze the extra crumble, to use another time.

After some thought and experimentation, I settled on a berry ice-cream as the best to serve this with. The tart of the berries balances the sweetness of the chocolate perfectly. I’ve included the details for making the ice-cream on the recipe, but you could of course serve this with any ice-cream.

This tastes out of this world especially if you are a chocolate lover and is an ideal way to top off a Valentines dinner. I can’t wait to hear what you all think of this recipe.

Italian Meatballs

I love my Italian Meatballs, so does Elly and not to blow my own trumpet but most people who have eaten these have described them as awesome and asked me for the recipe.

So after promising it to so many people, I’m finally posting it today. I have a lot of e-mails to send out to friends with links (and apologies) to make up for broken promises :) Still the best things in life are worth waiting for.

Part of the reason that I’m posting this today is that it is an excellent main course for a special Valentine’s meal for two, you can do the preparation in advance and freeze them until the day in question, leaving time to prepare a fresh starter and/or an incredible dessert on the day.

For me Italian food is Valentine’s day, I mean what could be more romantic than a fantastic candlelit meal, some opera playing quietly in the background, the one you love across the table with the candlelight reflecting in their eyes and you serving them a fantastic home cooked meal?

Over the two next weeks, I’ll be posting a starter and dessert to create a Valentine’s menu that will not be easily forgotten. So get cooking and freezing now, it’ll give you more time to enjoy the evening with the special person in your life.
